While we have the beautiful Thames River right in front of us, Lake Huron and Lake Erie are in our backyard, making “The Beach” a go-to place for generations of Londoners. I fondly remember going up to the Bend as a kid every weekend with my cousins when rows of cars parked all along the beach and we played all day in the waves. Then there is my Mother’s generation who spent many a warm summer night dancing at the Stork Club on the pier in Port Stanley. In this issue, we are celebrating London’s access to the river and two Great Lakes with a great lineup of ideas and articles to help you make new summer memories with your friends and family.
London’s fitness guru Mo Hagan will help you get in shape for summer swims, and London’s Silver Dolphins are proving that you can compete in the water and have fun at any age. Summer is also a great time to get out “en plein air” with your watercolours, or at least visit local outdoor art shows. We feature three local women artists who have a strong link to community both in their lives and in their art.
Local summer produce figures prominently in this issue’s Book Club Dinner and our fashion pages feature the supremely versatile summer dress. We also give you options to Cosmetic Surgery with new and non-invasive procedures for getting rid of wrinkles and looking younger and healthier.
We were so pleased to have the opportunity to photograph a beautiful beachside home on Lake Erie and although it is a new build with all the amenities, it has the warmth and look of a place that will be passed on for generations plus a spectacular spot on the beach.
And finally, find out what six London women’s favourite summer traditions are and use them to inspire your own ideas for treats and getaways this summer.
Summertime, and the livin’ is easy. Enjoy!

Cheers!
